Humane Society Dog Stars as Sandy in Playhouse on the Square's "Annie"

Hester, a dog that we rescued from a hoarding case, was found living in a hole in a wall with her litter of puppies. Months later, she was cast as Sandy the dog in the theatrical production of "Annie!" She even got adopted from her great exposure in this role! Read the great story The Commercial Appeal wrote here.

Humane Society Dogs Flash Mob Downtown

HumaneSociety_0048b

Some of our volunteer dogwalkers had a flash mob in downtown Memphis with nine of our dogs to raise awareness for Animal Cruelty Prevention Month. The dogs and volunteers learned a fun routine, and each dog had two signs held up for him: the first sign described the unfortunate circumstances that led to his intake at HSMSC, and the second sign told something funny or silly about the dog now. The goal of the flash mob was to show that dogs who have been victims of cruelty and neglect can be just as special, happy, well-behaved and smart as any dog.

Now, Lucky is feeling a lot better, thanks in part to the good samaritan who brought him to the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County on December 15th.
