Cans for Pets Program
Your trash is our treasure. Every time you throw away an empty aluminum can you could be helping save an animal's life. Cans for Pets, our recycling program, is an opportunity to turn trash into funds for the Humane Society.
The Cans for Pets program allows the community to drop off their empty aluminum cans into the big red bin located in the parking lot of the Humane Society. Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation supplies the recycling bins, bags, signs and cage trailer for the Cans for Pets program. The funds raised from the recycling program helps in housing and feeding the many cats and dogs at the Humane Society. One pound of cans purchases two pounds of dog food.
You can also help by collecting aluminum cans from your home or workplace. Contact the Humane Society at 937-3900 if you would like a recycle bin to participate in the program.
Assisted Therapy
Delta Society registered therapy dogs and their companions make monthly visits on behalf of the Humane Society to people who are in hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. These gentle and sensitive animals bring unconditional love to the elderly, ill, and depressed.
Pet Waggin’
Our mobile adoption unit, The Pet Waggin’, allows us to help with community-wide adoptions. The Pet Waggin’ provides transportation for expanded community outreach programs and increases the visibility of the Humane Society at major area events.
Veterinary Care
We have a small but very dedicated staff devoted to the routine healthcare and emergency medical needs of the animals under the care of the Humane Society. In addition, along with the cooperation of several area veterinary clinics, we are able to provide to the public a low-cost spay/neuter program for their dogs and cats. Each year, hundreds of pet owners took advantage of this program and had their pets spayed or neutered.
