Dog fighting is in the national news lately, but it also happens right in our city. Please help end this practice by reporting any information you know about dog fighting in your area. Read the most frequently asked questions the ASPCA gets about dog fighting.
The State of Tennessee has strict laws regarding animal cruelty.
Lost and Found
We are not Memphis Animal Services. The Humane Society cares for — and finds new homes for — dogs and cats that are found to be neglected, abused or injured.
In September, 2006, we launched our new Lost & Found Service, a community message board where lost and found dogs and cats can be reunited with their owners. Check there first, then call Memphis Animal Services.
Memphis Animal Services is the city’s main service center for pets that are simply lost by their owners. If you've lost your pet, please contact them immediately, or go to their shelter at 3456 Tchulahoma Road, in Memphis. (901) 362-5310.
Correctional Center Juveniles
The Humane Society has created a program that brings in juvenile offenders who have been tried as adults and puts them together with dogs that need training. Read the full story about the program at the Commercial Appeal.
Spay & Neuter Program
Our spay/neuter program is open to low income pet owners for a cost of $50. You can choose from a list of participating vets and we will set up your appointment:

Assisted Therapy
Delta Society registered therapy dogs and their companions make monthly visits on behalf of the Humane Society to people who are in hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. These gentle and sensitive animals bring unconditional love to the elderly, ill, and depressed.
Pet Waggin’
Our mobile adoption unit, The Pet Waggin’, allows us to help with community-wide adoptions. The Pet Waggin’ provides transportation for expanded community outreach programs and increases the visibility of the Humane Society at major area events.
Veterinary Care
We have a small but very dedicated staff devoted to the healthcare of the animals. These staff members, along with the cooperation of several area veterinary clinics, enabled us to provide a low-cost spay/neuter program to over five hundred pet owners last year.
