Volunteer Opportunities
Adoption Center
Volunteers help keep the kennel area appealing to the public by providing a clean environment. They also help increase the adoptability of our animals by socializing, grooming and exercising them.Doggie Bank Collector
Volunteers place donation canisters at area locations, collect the money on a regular basis, and count and deliver the money to the Humane Society. This program is ideal for busy people who would love to help the Humane Society, but cannot schedule a regular commitment.Dog Walkers
Volunteers help increase the adoptability of our animals by socializing, grooming and exercising them.Foster Care
Volunteers foster the Humane Society animals that are not ready for adoption. These animals may be injured, abused, too young for adoption, ill, nursing mothers and pups/kittens or adult animals in need of socialization. The length of fostering depends on the individual animal's circumstances, ranging from one week to three months. The Humane Society will provide medical treatment and any equipment needed while the pet is being fostered.Humane Education
Trained volunteers conduct presentations on the humane treatment of animals, proper pet care and the importance of spaying/neutering pets. Presentations are made in classrooms, summer camps or other locations.Mobile Adoptions
Volunteers assist in off-site adoptions. They help bathe and groom animals prior to the event, sell merchandise, recruit volunteers, and answer questions about the Humane Society and its services.Special Events
Throughout the year, we host several events that require volunteer power to help plan and execute. Volunteers can help with event set-up, merchandise sales, member and volunteer recruitment, and education. Whatever your expertise, we would love your help! Check out our events calendar.Office Assistance
The Humane Society is in need of assistance in the office with tasks such as: answering phones, filing, data entry, etc. Brief training would be provided. Office hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10 am – 6 pm; Saturday 10 am – 5 pm; and Sunday 1 pm – 5 pm. The Humane Society is closed on Mondays.Other Support
There are several tasks that can be done to assist the staff and animals. At the dog kennel, papers can be unfolded, adopter goodie bags stuffed, dogs can be washed and groomed, etc. Please call in advance to schedule. These tasks work best for groups wanting to do volunteer work or projects together.Ready to start volunteering? Click here.
